WebThis process of ecoregional planning was initiated by the Great Lakes Program of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to identify high priority biodiversity conservation areas that represent the full range of biodiversity across the ecoregion, including common and rare species, communities, and other significant natural features. WebThe Great Lakes form one of the largest freshwater systems in the world. Because of the latitude, precipitation and hydrological configuration, the Great Lakes have little or no problems with water scarcity. The Great Lakes ecoregion is shared by two of the highest income countries in the world.
